15 Minute Review!

Okay, as you all don't know, i pre-purchased Deus Ex: Human Revolution, and i have to say i'm deeply impressed!

The thing that makes the game so sensationally good, is that you can choose how you want to tackle things.

Ways of completing missions:

For example, if you have to infiltrate a building, you CAN do it without getting discovered by any of the enemies, you CAN complete a mission without killing someone, and of course, you get bonuses for everything. There is a bonus if you don't alert any of the enemies throughout your mission.

There is also a melee attack, in which you decide if you want to kill the person or just put him to sleep.
But there's a catch, of course, because if you could just go around a melee everyone (you're invulnerable when you do it by the way) the game would have been too easy.

The Melee Attack

You consume one energy cell (we'll get to the energy cell later) when you melee someone, and you make noise. If you put someone to sleep, you don't make as much noise as if you killed someone, and sprinting and running of course also makes noise. If you crouch you greatly reduce tha amount of sound you produce when you move around.

Energy Cells:

Energy cells are your main source of energy for your augmentations, and for your melee attacks. They can be replenished by eating Protein-packed snack bars =)

Augmentations and Customization's:

And now to the augmentations! THIS is where the stuff really happens!

You can fully customize your weapons you have picked up from enemies, or weapons that you have bought.

You can also upgrade yourself, for example with a radar which see's enemies before they see you, am eye implant which allows you to track people and electronic devices through walls and much, MUCH more.

Weapons:

Weapons are not like everyone would have thought, they don't run on plasma cells, they don't shoot lightning, they are just like ordinary weapons like those we have now, but with a futuristic look.
They run on bullets and can run out of ammo. Nothing too new here in 2027.

They thing that saves them from being just ordinary weapons is the fact that you can customize them however you want.

Hacking:

Hacking are your way of taking control of turrets to make them shoot at your ally's, take control of cameras and open locked doors. You hack by taking control of directories, which acts as a path to your goal, The Registry. You start at at the I/O port and use bridges to capture directories. Bridges can be bi-directional (one-way) or uni-directional (both ways). There are API's in some networks which can have bad or good effects. For example they can change the connecting directories, making your hacking session easier or harder.

Every time you capture a new node, there is a chance the security system might detect you. The chance is determined by the level of the directory, which go from 1-5 with 60,70,80,90,100, detection chance in in that order.

Well, there is not so much more for me to write, expect the plot which i don't want to reveal to you.
Of course i have only played the game 15 minutes so far, so there may be more things out there to see.

Twixer out!

  1. lol, 100% detection chance. You're pretty fucked :D
Anyway, there was a lot of hype revolving this game lately. I might be getting into it. Your review also encouraged me to do so. A lot of variety!
